New Cycling Challenge short break holidays for 2014

6th May 2014

New Cycling Challenge short break holidays for 2014 Specialist Cycle tour company Wheely Wonderful Cycling has introduced three new Cycling Short Break challenges this season, in Shropshire, Wales and the Wye Valley - featuring rides of about 50 miles per day, with luggage moved and great places to stay each night.

Kay Dartnell of Wheely Wonderful Cycling says "We've been getting a lot more requests for longer cycle rides on our cycling holidays….which we put down on the Bradley Wiggins and Tour de France effect. With only 59 days to go, before the Grand Depart of the Tour de France in Yorkshire, there is still time to get in the mood and take a cycling challenge, so you too can experience what the Peleton is going through."

The Three tours are; The Radnor Ring Challenge (£345pp), stopping at Knighton, Presteigne & Rhayader, The Shropshire Challenge (£287pp), staying in guesthouses in Ludlow, Bishops Castle and Ironbridge and the Wye Valley Challenge, (£350pp) staying in hotels in Ludlow, Presteigne & Hay on Wye. If cyclists want to bring their own bike – there is a reduction in price. Mrs. Tanner (Cycled Radnor Ring 2013) said  "At the end of a grueling day’s cycling, the lovely hotels and guesthouses were a very welcome sight. The Radnorshire Arms was our favourite."

The surge of interest in cycling has fuelled demand for longer rides, but this can be one- sided, as it is rare that the whole family shares the cycle enthusiast’s desire for long mileages. The majority of Wheely Wonderful Cycling’s holidays feature rides of about 20-25 miles a day, so keen cyclists who want to encourage their partners & family to cycle can take advantage of the fact that all tours come with a short & long option. The cycle enthusiast can take the longer ride each day and meet up at various points during the day & at the accommodation each night. Kay Dartnell of Wheely Wonderful Cycling says “The other solution to unequal cycling power – is to try one of our electric bikes – and that should stop the foot tapping whilst they are waiting for you to catch up.” This is one of 30 different cycling and walking holidays organised by Wheely Wonderful Cycling from their base Petchfield Farm near Ludlow.
