Shropshire Tourism Opens Up Membership to all In a far reaching move to support Shropshire's visitor economy, Shropshire Tourism is now opening up membership to any business, individual, organisation or group interested or involved in any way with the visitor economy in the county.

Simon McCloy, Chief Executive at Shropshire Tourism said, "This is a new level of membership for us, which broadens our scope to support all kinds of businesses in Shropshire. Our traditional valued members include for the most part accommodation providers and attractions, but we have long recognised that all types of businesses benefit from visitors to Shropshire.

Research shows that some of the main beneficiaries of visitor spend in Shropshire are retail and food and drink businesses. Shops receive just over £150 million pa and food and drink businesses benefit from £189 million pa of visitor spend."

Q. How does this affect me and my membership with Shropshire Tourism?

A. It doesn't. The only slight change is that you will now be called a Full Member, rather than a Member. This is to differentiate between the benefits you already receive (including your entry on and tourism association website where appropriate), and the new benefits of Shropshire Tourism membership that we will be introducing.

Simon McCloy, Chief Executive of Shropshire Tourism said, "This new free membership does not affect the support we already provide our 500 plus full paying members, but it does mean that we can now be more inclusive. We want to do more to support these other businesses.
