Models take to the skies this weekend

24th July 2012

The skies over Shropshire this weekend will be buzzing with hundreds of intricately detailed scale models of iconic aircraft at the annual Large Model Aircraft Rally. Taking place at the Royal Air Force Museum Cosford on 28th and 29th July, this famous air show in miniature is an absolute must see for any aviation enthusiast - and with the warm sunny weather looking set to continue, what better way to enjoy the sunshine?

This year’s show will mark the twentieth anniversary of the event at Cosford which will see around 12,000 visitors travelling from all over the country to attend this two-day festival of flight.  In addition to two full days of flying, other activities to keep the whole family entertained include: a children’s entertainment area; trade stalls selling a wide range of modelling and non-modelling related items; on site catering; plus, access to the award winning RAF Museum where you can see many of the aircraft on which the models are based.

Why not beat the rush and buy tickets in advance at a discounted rate?  Advance tickets are priced at just £9 for adults, £5 for children and £7 for senior citizens with a family ticket of 2 adults and up to 2 children retailing at £20, saving £5 on the gate price.  Tickets are currently available from the Museum’s Admissions Desk.  Gates open at 8.30am and flying starts a 9.00am.  Unfortunately, free admission to the Museum is not possible this weekend.

On site camping including entrance to the show is only £45.00 for the weekend when booked in advance.  Contact Dave Bailey for more details on camping at or call 07827 675665.
