Olympics update

The Games are nearly upon us and Shropshire has been making the most of promoting its links with the heritage of the Olympics. Much Wenlock has been welcoming media visits from around the World and the Shropshire Council Visitor Economy Team has been working flat out on planning and hosting visits.  There has been some good coverage of walking in Shropshire with a 13 page article in the July issue of Country Walking magazine. Watch out for forthcoming episodes of BBC Countryfile on 22nd July and ITV's Countrywise on 30th July (check TV listings for confirmation).

On 23rd July Australian TV will be broadcasting 6 live weather bulletins from the Square in Much Wenlock from 9pm.

You can find out more about Much Wenlock at www.muchwenlockguide.info

As a result of the coverage visitor numbers to Much Wenlock Museum are up by 243%. As the Museum is also the Visitor Information Centre it is hoped that visitors to the town will be encouraged to explore other parts of Shropshire. The Discovery Map for the South of the county is one of the most popular publications.
