Half term model making at Cosford

October half term is just around the corner, so if you’re starting to plan how you’re going to entertain the children, look no further than the Royal Air Force Museum Cosford who are inviting families to participate in a fun model making activity. Taking place from Monday 23 to Friday 27 October, little aviators can choose from a vast number of Airfix kits to build, including a 1:72 Mosquito, Sea Harrier, Mitsubishi Zero, Albatros or Sopwith Pup.
Flight simulation event heads to Cosford

Aviation fans can experience the virtual skies in Shropshire next month as the Flight Sim 2017 event heads to the Royal Air Force Museum Cosford for a fifth consecutive year. Taking place on Saturday 7 October, aviation enthusiasts will enjoy a day packed with all the latest flight simulation software and the chance to test out their virtual flying skills.

Ginger and Spice Festival 2017

A brand new heritage food and drink event ‘The Ginger and Spice Festival’ celebrating the culinary, heritage and historical links of spices, food and gingerbread, to the town of Market Drayton, Shropshire, will be taking place from Wednesday 27th September to Saturday 30th September 2017 for the first time.
BBC antiques series Flog It! comes to RAF Museum Cosford

Flog It, the popular BBC One antiques programme presented by Paul Martin will be holding a free valuation day at the Royal Air Force Museum Cosford on Thursday 5 October. The Bristol based BBC production recently transmitted its 1000th episode and the 17th series is currently being recorded. The show regularly achieves an audience of more than two million viewers in its weekday afternoon slot.

75 years on – the story behind Hampden P1344’s final flight

The Handley Page Hampden Bomber P1344 (PL-K), currently undergoing conservation at the Royal Air Force Museum Cosford will be subject of a lecture taking place on Tuesday 5 September 2017. The lecture will be presented by the Museum’s Conservation Centre Manager who has personal experience working to restore the aircraft and with former crew and family members. The evening lecture will include details of the dramatic story behind its final flight, which took place exactly 75 years earlier, plus a behind the scenes look at how the aircraft looks today!

This 80’s cult classic military movie is the first to be shown in the Museum’s new outdoor event which will take place in the spacious grounds, against a backdrop of aircraft.
Shropshire Movie Mansion Celebrates Ten Years of ‘Atonement’ with a Charity Open Day

Shropshire’s most famous movie location is celebrating the tenth anniversary of the release of the film ‘Atonement’ which put it on the global map. On Sunday 3rd September visitors will be able to explore the grounds and parts of the house at Stokesay Court, near Ludlow, where so much of the action in the film version of Ian McEwan’s best-selling novel took place.
